Pipe burst in Halfway Gardens leaves residents navigating pooling water
Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe has voiced the frustrations of community members, who reported that the pipe has repeatedly burst, even after repairs have been carried out.
Motorists and pedestrians continue to navigate through water pooling at the corner of Le Roux Avenue and Berger Road in Halfway Gardens, due to a pipe burst that has been causing water to flow.
Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe highlighted residents’ concerns, who say that the pipe has repeatedly burst after repairs.
She alleges that the issue began when a contractor from Johannesburg Road Agency (JRA) accidentally damaged the pipe while installing traffic lights. “Another case of infrastructure being destroyed. This time by JRA contractors,” said Deppe.

The pipe burst, and running water, were reported to Johannesburg Water (JW) by the residents and the councillor, but no repairs have been made.
On March 25, the Midrand Reporter sent an inquiry to JW, asking if they were aware of the pipe burst, and when repairs are expected to be made.
