New classrooms give New Jerusalem children a path to brighter future

One of the new classrooms is earmarked for the first matriculants at Lanto Montessori International Schools in 2026.

Laughter, cheers, and confetti filled the air at New Jerusalem Children’s Home (NJCH) on September 4 as the home celebrated a milestone in its mission to empower orphaned and vulnerable children through education.

After months of planning, hard work, and overcoming financial challenges, three newly built classrooms were officially unveiled, marking a major step forward in providing quality education for the children at the home.

Founded in 2000, NJCH has long served as a safe haven for children in need, offering access to holistic education through Lanto Montessori International Schools.

This latest extension project reinforces the home’s commitment, not only to sheltering children, but also to equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to build independent and successful lives.

One of the new classrooms has been specially designated for the first cohort of matriculants at Lanto Montessori International Schools in 2026, further demonstrating the home’s dedication to providing a pathway to brighter futures.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, NJCH executive director Anna Mojapelo expressed heartfelt gratitude to the project’s sponsors. “Education is the most powerful tool we can give to our children.

These classrooms are not just walls and rooves; they are places where dreams will be nurtured and futures will be built.”

The project was made possible through the support of Bombela Operating Company, in partnership with The Abela Trust, Eazi Access, Omega Digital, and other generous sponsors.

Children in crisp school uniforms clapped and cheered alongside corporate partners, community members, dignitaries, staff, and learners as the ribbon was cut.

Bombela Operating Company’s relationship with NJCH began in 2023 during Mandela Day initiatives, when volunteers helped refurbish classrooms and improve facilities. Since then, the partnership has evolved into a long-term commitment to community upliftment.

Highlighting the significance of the new classrooms, NJCH marketing manager Hopkins Kaira remarked: “This investment is more than just infrastructure; it is a statement of trust, growth, and progress. With these classrooms, our learners have the space to thrive, academically and emotionally.”

With these new learning spaces, NJCH continues to nurture hope, resilience, and ambition, ensuring that the children in its care have both shelter and the tools to build successful futures.
