Midrand Striders celebrate double podium success at Rand Athletic Club Tough One

The RAC Tough One lived up to its name, but Midrand Striders rose to the challenge with grit, strength, and a double podium celebration.

Midrand Striders once again proved why they remain one of the area’s most resilient and competitive running clubs, delivering a standout showing at the Rand Athletic Club (RAC) Tough One 32km on November 23.

Known for its steep climbs and demanding route, the race tested endurance and determination, qualities the Striders have long been known for.

The club turned out in strong numbers for the event. The championship races allow members to compete within age and gender categories, with top finishers earning recognition at the club’s year-end awards.

This year, Midrand Striders had extra reason to celebrate, as two of their runners claimed podium finishes. Both Sharon Newman and Ntshengedzeni Masupha secured second place in the highly competitive 50–59 age division.

Club chairperson Tsenoli Tiheli said the results reflected the club’s spirit, discipline, and commitment. “Midrand Striders was blessed by having two members who finished in podium places by coming second in the overall race category of 50 to 59 years for both men and ladies.

“Their performances are exemplary and make us, and the community of Midrand, proud. Keep up the good work and serving as Midrand Striders ambassadors. We thank you.”
He concluded that the club salutes both runners for their commitment and for representing the club with excellence.
