Joyful Giving adopts Noordwyk Primary feeding scheme to support learners

Joyful Giving has adopted Noordwyk Primary School's feeding scheme, turning a food donation into a long-term commitment to support learners and help ensure no child goes hungry at school.

A local community initiative has stepped in to help combat hunger among learners by adopting a feeding scheme programme at Noordwyk Primary School.

Joyful Giving visited the school on May 25, where members donated food supplies to support the school’s nutrition programme and engaged with school leadership on several social challenges affecting learners and the wider school community.

Founder Khomo Mashala said the visit provided an opportunity, not only to contribute essential food items, but also to better understand the needs of the school and identify areas where additional support may be required.

During discussions with the school’s management team, the organisation learned about a range of social issues impacting learners. While some concerns have already been addressed, others will require ongoing intervention and collaboration between stakeholders.

Mashala said Joyful Giving is committed to working alongside the school to help address these challenges and create a more supportive learning environment for learners.

“As part of the visit, we officially handed over food parcels to the school kitchen and are proud to announce that we have adopted the school’s feeding scheme programme.”

The adoption of the feeding scheme is expected to provide much-needed support to learners who rely on school meals as an important source of daily nutrition.

Mashala emphasised that access to food plays a critical role in a child’s ability to learn and succeed in the classroom.

“We believe that no child should have to learn on an empty stomach, and we look forward to making a meaningful difference, one meal at a time.”
