Authorities impound illegal goods and unroadworthy taxi in Midrand by-law drive.
Multiple law enforcement agencies joined forces in a targeted crackdown on illegal trading and traffic offences across wards 92, 110, and 132.
Law enforcement teams impounded an unroadworthy taxi, towed a light truck, and arrested four men during a major joint by-law operation across the Midrand CBD and Waterfall on September 9.

The Region A citizen relationship and urban management-led (Crum) operation targeted wards 92, 110, and 132. The multi-agency drive brought together police, the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), environmental health, and private security companies to promote by-law compliance and community safety.
Teams gathered at Midrand Fire Station for a parade ahead of the operation, which resulted in five traffic fine notices, trader goods impounded, and R24 977 generated in revenue, excluding vehicle impoundment fees.
According to Crum, during the operation, teams impounded goods from traders operating illegally along South Street in the Midrand CBD, Ward 110, to enforce trading compliance.

Officers also impounded stock displayed beyond the boundaries of a department of economic development-allocated trading stall. Authorities urged traders to keep their goods within designated spaces to ensure public safety.
Teams further impounded street traders’ goods and demolished illegal permanent structures on city-owned property outside Super Score in Ward 110.

By-law enforcement continued along Allandale Road in Waterfall, Ward 132, where teams impounded goods and demolished a structure at the corner of Waterfall Drive and Woodmead Drive (R55).
Addressing traffic and vehicle offences, JMPD Region A impounded a light truck parked illegally opposite the Midrand Magistrate’s Court, urging motorists to park legally to keep roads accessible.
JMPD officers issued several traffic violation notices to non-compliant taxi drivers and impounded an unroadworthy taxi. Police also arrested four men for alleged contraventions of the Immigration Act.
