‘My power lies in the mic’
MIDRAND – The Umtata born and raised singer explained the idea and the message behind his new song which was published on 16 April, a song he deemed a war cry song to help those going through the most in these difficult times posed by the pandemic.
Midrand-based recording artist and songwriter Sinethemba Bibi, better known as Snyman, continues to send out positive messages through his new song Ndiyolwa (meaning ‘I will fight’).
The singer explained that his new song was like a war cry to help those going through difficult times due to the pandemic.
“I thought since we were in a situation where many people were losing their jobs because of Covid-19, and some were struggling to find jobs because companies were not hiring, I should encourage people to fight. Instead of sitting down and giving up, we should fight for our lives,” said Bibi.
He explained that the new song was quite spiritual for him. “I get the song spiritually and my power lies in the mic. I think this is a time where the Lord is showing himself to people and also this is a time when people are being taken back to their roots by force.

“I personally believe in my ancestors and God, therefore, I think with everything that is happening, God is sending a message to say he is there for us all and the elders or ancestors are saying we should not forget where we come from.”
He added, “When you do not work or lose your job you have to go back home eventually. However, a lot of people do not want to go back home where they come from because they are ashamed and embarrassed that maybe they did not work hard enough and so forth.
“People end up closing themselves indoors, some become depressed and stressed because they do not want to go home.”
The song was released on all music streaming platforms. Bibi plans on dropping a music video for the song soon and an album is also in the works.
