Goof Young is back with a message of hope
MIDRAND – Midrand based artist Ofitlhile Matau better known as Goof Young is set to drop a teaser to his long awaited mixtape which would drop by the end of August this year.
Midrand-based artist Ofitlhile Matau, better known as Goof Young, is set to drop a teaser to his long-awaited mix tape which will be released in August.
The rapper and producer said his latest song, Is Real would be released on 2 July along with the music video. He added that the idea of the song was to emphasise that the ‘hip-hop lifestyle’ was often a facade.
“Often times we would get profiled and accused of crimes we know nothing about by the police, all because of how we present ourselves. Again, there are people who are jealous and envious and who like to slow others down,” he said.
The rapper explained that his song pointed out the societal problems they faced as part of the hip-hop culture while the other tracks on his mix tape were the solutions to how he believed things should be done to preserve the culture. “In terms of the solutions, they are all in my mix tape. I talk about how it is time to bring things into the light and showcase our lives in a more cultural and appreciative manner.
“I talk about how much I have been looked down on and now it is time I break out of my shell and fly like a butterfly. So I can continue spreading the message, what was in my heart.”
