Zama Khumalo releases her debut album
MIDRAND – Zama Khumalo shared her experience while preparing her first album after winning Idols South Africa season 16.
With her debut album titled In The Beginning set to be released on November 12, Idols South Africa Season 16 winner Zama Khumalo, aka Zama, shared her crazy experience from being an Idols contestant to becoming a fully fletched artist who is about to release an album.

The Waterfall, Midrand-based singer said her experience has forced her to adapt the fast pace, however, things were getting a lot easier now.
She added that on Idols most of what they did was sing whereas now, being an artist in the studio, she had to learn a lot of things like new words (jargon) and starting a song from scratch.
“There is a lot of pressure right now especially with the album as well. I am just thinking that these are going to be new songs and I am just worried about how people will receive the music.

“On Idols, I used to do covers and people are familiar with the songs so they would just vibe with me. However, right now, I will be releasing something different and because my album is filled with every genre, I am also worried about how people are going to be receiving that as well,” she added.
Despite the jitters, Khumalo said she hopes people get to enjoy the music and see that she can be versatile and give her the much-needed support.
Just a few days back, Khumalo teased fans with a single from the album titled Is’thunzi meaning ‘reputation’. Giving fans a taste of what was about to come from the body of work.
Khumalo concluded that people can expect a bit of kwaito mixed with amapiano, and afro-pop, adding that she featured artists such as the likes of Ntsika, Professor, Drumpope, Oskido, and Nicole Elocin.
