SA v England battle reignites at Mahem oval

The South African contingent will be led by national Super Saloon champion Kosie Weyers.


The Mahem oval raceway in Pretoria will host the final of three international race meetings this Saturday evening, with a visiting team of British drivers taking on South Africa’s top racers in the Pinto Saloon Car category.

The visitors are top overseas contenders Keith Martin, Dick Hillard, Adam Heatrick, Dan Smith, Alan Throndyke, Gavin Botfield and Paul Carruthers.

The South African contingent will be led by national Super Saloon champion Kosie Weyers, with support from JJ Olivier, Jack Daniels, Charles Carlson, Derick Nowell, Eric Williams and Handre Kotze.

On this occasion, the international races will be thrown open to all local Pinto Class drivers, with the Champion of Champions events to boast some 25 entries.

The main events will be supported by races for V8 Sprint Cars, Rotary Midgets, 1600 modified saloon cars, Micro Midgets,

HotRods and Bangers.

The gates will open at 9am, with practice sessions for all the classes during the day.

Official qualifying for the international races will start at 4pm, with an opening ceremony and racing starting at 6pm.

Admission will cost R70 per adult and R40 for kids between the ages of seven and 12 years.
