Scooby Fest 2016 heads to Red Star Raceway

The grand essentials of happiness for a petrolhead are: Have something to do. Have something to love. Have something to drive.

For everyone at The Subaru Owners Club of South Africa (SOCSA) these three principles have one answer. Subaru.

Scooby Fest 2016 takes place on April 24. This is an anchor event on the SOCSA calendar and once again, Red Star Raceway in Delmas just 74 kilometers from Subaru Johannesburg in Edenvale, is the host venue. Scooby Fest 2016 will bring Subaru owners together from all over Southern Africa with one simple plan: To get the most enjoyment out of their cars.

Red Star Raceway has a host of facilities that will challenge and suit every Subaru ever built. The four-kilometer racetrack itself is a motley mix of tight and technical corners with two reasonably long straights. It’s a fantastic racetrack to drive a performance car in earnest with forgiving run offs onto the grass sections and a moderately flat gradient.

Expect every single Subaru at the meet to take full advantage of the track sessions where the Boxer engines and Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive drivetrains will prove their worth in delivering exceptional handling and driver thrills. Adjacent to the racetrack is a newly built Skidpan and Drift Track that will also be open to Subaru Owners on April 24.

Here, owners can indulge in some competitive gymkhana sessions and once again experience Subaru’s signature balance and control. Prizes, of course, are up for grabs. Also available for Scooby Fest is an off-road track on which all Subaru SUV owners who fancy some 4×4 action can put their cars to the test. With a myriad sludgy mud sections, steep climbs and ruts as well as a special off-road ‘rally stage’, what more could a Subaru SUV owner want to get their hands (and car) dirty?

 A FEAST FOR THE SENSES

The sights and sounds will be catered to courtesy of the signature Subaru colours and sounds. Think World Rally Blue with yellow star decals reminiscent of Colin McCrae’s championship-winning livery. Think Gold wheels. Think Blob-eyes, Bug-eyes and even Hawk-eyes. Think tunnel-sized exhausts shouting their chorus in an unmistakeable Subaru Staccato. Smell the petrol and feel the heat, Scooby Fest 2016 is going to be the biggest celebration of Subaru owners this year.

FAMILY FUN

It’s a great excuse to bring the whole family along to enjoy the Subaru Owners Club family and the amazing cars. Food, drinks and merchandise will be on sale throughout the day and SOCSA has organised some kiddies entertainment as well.
