New system to help speed service in health care facilities

A new system dubbed the dashboard system set to improve the quality of service in health care facilities.

KABOKWENI – The National Department of Health has introduced a new system called the “Dashboard System” that will enable patients to receive proper services from health-care workers.

This is after the MEC, Ms Candith Mashego-Dlamini, indicated that the department will issue stickers at a health facilities on which patients could indicate their views on the cleanliness of the facility, the staff’s attitude or whether there was enough medication, among other things.

“We decided to assist the disabled in an effort to enable them to interact with other community members and we don’t only donate wheelchairs but we also provide other items as well.

She added this would enable officials upon inspection to easily identify problem areas at the facility.

Mashego-Dlamini was speaking during her department’s handover of 10 wheelchairs designed according to the beneficiaries’ disabilities.

Speaking before of the handover she said, “We decided to assist the disabled in an effort to enable them to interact with other community members and we don’t only donate wheelchairs but we also provide other items as well.

One of the recipient’s, Mr Jabulani Ngwenya, told Mpumalanga News that he was happy about the wheelchair. “All that is left for me is to get a job. I need a job that will enable me to work in my condition.”

The MEC also encouraged community members to live a healthy lifestyle and warned them about the dangers of obesity.

“If you have TB you must take you medication because it is curable and failure to do so will increase the risk of your illness developing into MDR . She also indicated that research showed that girls between the ages of 16-24 years are more infected by the HIV/Aids pandemic than boys of the same age group.

Mashego-Dlamini said this an indication that they were engaging in sexual activities with older men.

“We must be open and honest with our children regarding the dangers of having unprotected sex.”
