ZWELISHA – Members of a family were shocked after a 40-year-old man was found with his late mother’s skull hidden in a bag.
This took place last Friday and has left the entire community and the man’s family stunned.
According to information, he was arrested by the Pienaar police and is alleged to have gone to his mother’s grave early last Friday.
He allegedly dug the grave and took the skull
The family became suspicious when he started behaving strangely and decided to investigate.
Upon discovering the skull, they summoned the local police.
Police spokesperson at Pienaar, Lt Jabu Ndubane confirmed the incident and said that the suspect refused to cooperate and even resisted arrest.
“The man was acting very strangely, in such a way that he threatened to kill the police. He even charged forward and tried to stab one of our colleagues,” said Ndubane.
She said after a scuffle, he was shot and wounded and is now under police guard at a local hospital.
It has been reported that the man’s mother passed away 13 years ago.
Members of the community, who spoke to Mpumalanga News, suspected that the man wanted to use his mother’s remains for muti purposes.
“This incident has scared us. Our children are no longer safe here because they too can easily be abducted for their body parts.
We also feel that our graves are not safe. Maybe it’s time we had security at the local cemetery,” said a concerned resident.
The family refused to talk to the paper.
