MBOMBELA – The Education Training Development and Practices SETA (ETDP SETA) will on September 19, 2013 officially launch its office in Nelspruit.
This new office will an addition to its head office in Bedfordview, Johannesburg meaning that ETDP SETA will have new offices in all nine provinces.
The organisation used to only operate in four provinces until last year where offices were opened Gauteng, North West, Western Cape, Northern Cape and Free State.
“Having an office in each province makes us more visible to our constituencies, stakeholders and the public who need our services, information on our programmes and activities,” says Ms Nombulelo Nxesi, ETDP SETA CEO.
The ETDP SETA’s mandate is to promote and facilitate the development and improvement of the skills profile in the education and training and development sector and the role of the provincial office is to reinforce delivery thereof. Accordingly, the provincial co-ordinators will ensure that there is provincially-based constituency consultation, facilitation, and support in alignment with the SETA’s key programmes.
The SETA supports further education training institutions to be responsive and promoting teacher development – respectively in alignment with the National Priorities the Integrated Strategic Planning Framework for Teacher Education and Development in SA.
It also facilitates increased access to, and output of, Graduates in Higher Education and Further Education Training Institutions, and youth development – particularly in the context of increasing the level of workplace learning and with a strong focus on the rural areas. The programmes and related activities flow from its Development Skills Plan and strengthen the Quality Assurance System.
Working in partnerships with its constituencies in the ETD sector, the ETDP SETA has ensured that its activities target the youth, unemployed graduates, women, and people living with disabilities. With an office in each province the SETA is well placed to further its reach of the target groups and segments.
