New computers to make communication easy for community

The aim is to give them a platform where they can access relevant information, in terms of job searching and research for schools from the internet at no charge.

ELUKWATINI – The people of Chief Albert Luthuli Local Municipality were given 10
reasons to be joyful last Friday by the MEC for finance, Mr Madala Masuku.

He officially handed over 10 computers when the opening of the internet
kiosk was held on the day. “After doing some research, we discovered that in
this area there is a major problem of signal and access to the world of
technology.

So we thought of upgrading this matter and make communication easy
for the people that live here. The aim is to give them a platform where they can
access relevant information, in terms of job searching and research for schools
from the internet at no charge,” said Masuku.
He commended the Executive Mayor, Cllr Busi Shiba for the work she has done in the community and her
efforts in helping or working with the government with service delivery in the
area. Masuku continued to speak of the progress he sees thus far. She has made
sure that the department’s money is well spent and no crimes or theft was made to hinder any process or service delivery from happening.
Masuku showcased who these computers will help when he brought forward people that say they have
certain needs but they can’t do. They included young and old who had approached
him. He then requested them to go and use the computers on the spot and send him a message, which they duly did.
This is one of the messages sent to him:
“Babe Madala Masuku, siyabonga kakhulu siyi Ward 24 konke losentele
kona.
Sibonga kakhulu kuletsela bantfu labasha intfutfuko dvutane batokhona
kubona misebenti nalamanye mathuba lakhona. An email sent by a community member.

One of the teachers in the schools around the community, Ms Celiwe Mbangane
had this to say; “Our children will benefit from these computers and as a rural
area, we really appreciate this initiative from Masuku, this will make our work
and the learners we teach, easier.”
Speaking for businesses in the area, Mr Sipho Ndebele said: “As a businessman, I’m inspired by this initiative and hope it will inspire all businessman is this area. I hope we will all help more in
our community and not wait for people from afar to help us when we can do
something ourselves.”
