
MBOMBELA – An alleged shoplifter has sustained a leg injury after trying to flee from Riverside Mall security guards on Tuesday.
According to the marketing manager at the mall, Ms Tanya Cruse, the suspect jumped from the ground floor to the basement floor in his attempt to outrun the security officers, sustaining a leg injury in the process.
“No other shoppers or Mall personnel were injured in the incident. Fidelity Security promptly alerted the Police department who were quick to respond.
She indicated that the incident is currently under investigation and no further details are available at this stage.
“We would like to thank the SAPS, Fidelity Security and Netcare 911 for their prompt response and assistance,”said Cruse.
Police spokesperson Colonel Leonard Hlathi, said that the suspect is currently under police guard at one of the local hospital and will be charged with shoplifting.
