The eighth edition of the Selati Super Cup started off with a bang as four teams have been eliminated from this lucrative soccer tourney in the Nkomazi subregion.

The successful opening was not only praised by the sponsors but also by the many soccer fanatics in this region who attended.
“We are very happy with the interest the tournament has generated in local communities who were hungry for game time
and entertainment.
“What also makes us happy and proud is the fact that the teams have shown maturity and are more prepared for the competition,” said TSB’s Christabel Hlatshwayo.
She said soccer lovers who had attended the opening games were left wanting more and were on their best behaviour.
“It was like a final and we are happy that soccer fans got what they came for. We hope this was just the beginning.
“Going forward, we would like to see the kind of turnout we had on Sunday and we would like to applaud soccer supporters for their good behaviour and teams for accepting defeat and moving on,” added Hlatshwayo.
More good news for locals and players was that the English Premiership giants, Arsenal have sent some of their players to help conduct coaching clinics and groom the u/15 players.
“This is part of the Selati Cup legacy. We want to equip our youngsters with the right information and help nurture their skills and talent,” she pointed out.
The Selati Cup stadiums such as Driekoppies, KaMhlushwa and KaMaqhekeza have undergone major facelifts as part of the Selati Cup legacy and there are still more in the pipeline.
