MBOMBELA – It’s been over three months since a newborn baby boy was snatched from his mother at Rob Ferreira Hospital and he has not yet been found.
Five suspects arrested in connection with the with missing baby’s case appeared in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court on November 27 and the case was postponed to next year.
The five suspects are Messrs Ananias Ndzimba (27), Julius Sithole (25), Phineas Sono (35), Aaron Moyo-Nyoni (20) and Ms Portia Ncube (31).
Ndzimba and Sithole are still in custody while their three co-accused are out on bail.
Outside court the boy’s grandmother Ms Agnes Matsenjwa voiced her concern about the time taken by the police to recover the infant.
She said she was also worried that each time the matter went to court it had to be postponed for no valid reason and this time around she said the investigating officer had been present in court.
She added that besides relying on the police work the family had tried other ways to help in the recovery of their grandson. They had consulted traditional doctors (tinyanga) to pray with and even cast spells to determine his whereabouts.
“We still have hope for his recovery, we have consulted traditional doctors and prophets and both agreed that the baby is still alive and being kept in secret somewhere,” said Matsenjwa.
