Shaka Ramina men give back to the community

After noticing the dire situation of residents in the community, and seeing that there are families who go to bed with empty stomachs, the Shaka Ramina Men social club donated food parcels to the community and school uniforms to three needy families.

NEWSKOM-Delight and appreciation were written on the faces of these families.One of the family members who received food and uniform, Rosie Sibuyi (85) said, “I am very happy, I don’t know how to express my gratitude for what they have done to me and their contribution in making a difference in the community”, said.

She further said she tried applying for pension but it was not successful, her family is only dependent to their two children’s social grant. Goodness Mkhabela (62) said she will be happy if she could be constantly given food since she is not working and cannot work for herself.

This social club has the wish of helping more people but due to not having a sponsor they fail to meet their objectives, since they use money from their pockets to help needy families. Many people may be surprised about why this gentlemen chosen to help the community, since it believed that social clubs are mainly run by women, the rationale behind their motive was the fact that their community is one of the most privileged communities in Mpumalanga, and they want to strive for a better change in the community.

Speaking during the handover, the former chairperson of the club, Mr Thotho Mlambo said, “our purpose is to help the needy furthermore we
visit different homes to observe what they are suffering with, so that we help were we can.” He further stated that if they had a sponsor they could be able to do more. This group was also touched by the one the children who went to school with no school shoes hence she wore flip flop to school in this winter season.

The social told this journalist that occasionally they feel like other communities are failing to accept them, at times other families
feel like club want to make fun of them by helping them because they are not known to the public. They urged the public to support and accept what they do. They are calling out for a sponsor so that they can do more in helping the community.
