DJ competition now open for entries

Ligwalagwala FM brings yet again the most-anticipated annual MP’s Finest DJ Mix Competition.

The station is searching for the finest house or hip-hop DJ, pioneered by the Asambe Drive Show hosted by DJ Shabbisto from 15:00 to 18:00 on weekdays. Interested upcoming DJs are invited to drop off their 10-minute mixes at the station offices from now to November 1.

“The station has realised that there are a lot of upcoming local DJs who have not yet received a chance to be recognised. With this competition, we wish to give back and provide a platform for them to gain recognition,” said Mfundo Ntsibande, marketing manager for the station.

The MP’s Finest DJ Mix Competition also serves as a corporate-social initiative as it recruits young local talent, the winner and runner-up from 2011, Afrotellus, have been recruited by the station and they have now released a single for the stations’ Ntjintja Guluva campaign in 2013.

According to Ntsibande, the shortlisting process which will be done off air by a panel of judges for a duration of a week.

“The short listing will lead to the top 12 which will go on air for listeners to participate as well. Tune in to your favourite station to hear what talent is hidden in Mpumalanga as we build up to Judgement day where only one will walk away with the title of Mpumalanga’s Finest.

The winner will walk away with a set of DJ equipment to the value of R50 000 sponsored by Mpumalanga Tourism and Park Agency,” he concluded.

The winner stands a chance of walking away with full DJ equipment to the value of R50 000, becoming a resident DJ on the Asambe Drive Show for a year, mentorship by the station’s DJs and they will be included on station’s events lineup.
