More than 100 babies delivered in good health

About 40 females and 63 male babies were born on the 25 December 2015 in the Department‘s Provincial, Regional and Sub Regional Health Facilities around the Province.

MBOMBELA – The Mpumalanga Department of health applauds, appreciates the devotion and professionalism practised displayed by the Health Medical Professionals and workers of the Mpumalanga Health Department around the Province, their commitment saw over 100 new babies born in a good health conditions.

About 40 females and 63 male babies were born on the 25 December 2015 in the Department‘s Provincial, Regional and Sub Regional Health Facilities around the Province.
During his hospital visits MEC Gillion Mashego greeted and congratulated the parents of the new born babies.
MEC Mashego further went on to say “we welcome these new babies, as the province, we are proud to announce that we are winning the war against HIV. People are testing [for HIV] in numbers. The stigma is going away and our children are not dying at birth,” said Mashego.
MEC added” I am happy about the hygiene standards that our hospitals and clinics are upholding to, we have turned the corner as the Mpumalanga Department of health.
The Department of Health is working towards curbing the mortality rate, by recruiting more specialists to strengthen and support Primary Health Care in the quest to reduce maternal and child mortality.
