There is no elevator to success, we all should take the stairs

ELUKWATINI – The Elukwatini police station has appointed a new station commander.

Former station commander for the Hazyview SAPS, Col Mfundisi Makamu took over the reins from the previous station commander, Col Precious Mabuza.

Mabuza has since been promoted to the position of a deputy cluster commander for Ermelo. The Ermelo cluster comprises the police stations falling under the following areas – Elukwatini, Mayflower, Ekulindeni, Lothair and Carolina.
Sgt Peace Mbokane, Elukwatini police spokesman says Makamu has hit the ground running.

Makamu told his staff that they should roll up their sleeves and work hard.

“There is no elevator to success, we all should take the stairs. Nobody ever died of hard work and if we all work together to achieve it, there is no doubt that we will make Elukwatini a good place,” said Makamu.

Makamu, who boasts of 18-years’ experience in the police force, has since played a pivotal role in the fight against crime in different ways and occupied important seats on his way up the corporate ladder.

Between 2000 and 2010, Makamu worked at Acornhoek police station as a Vispol Head. In 2011, he was promoted to the position of being a station commander of Bushbuckridge police station. From 2012 to 2016, Makamu served as a station commander of Hazyview police station until he was transferred to Elukwatini police station this year January.

Mbokane says the personnel of Elukwatini police station have welcome Makamu.

“The personnel at Elukwatini have thrown the confetti to celebrate the homecoming of this legend. It has been a few days since the Makamu has put both hands on the plough, but it is already plain to see that he is a man on one lane – and that is the fast lane to greatness.”
