BREAKING NEWS: University of Mpumalanga students on strike

The students of the University of Mpumalanga are on strike demanding that the university pays off-campus service providers for accommodation. 

MBOMBELA – According to the learners, the police were shooting at them and some students were transported to Rob Ferreira hospital that were shot during the protest.

According to Wandile Shabangu, SRC chairperson and SRC treasury says the head of security gave them a letter stating that they must leave by 12:00. “They say we must leave because of the unrest at the campus. They say if we don’t leave, the police will shoot us and remove us by force. We will not leave, this is our home,” said Shabangu.

“We feel the management is not taking us seriously, this is why we decided that we are closing the gate and we are only allowing the management to enter the campus so that they can make the necessary payments,” he explained.
