Burnt woman to be buried on Saturday
The deceased nine-year-old daughter was also raped by the suspect, who allegedly stole the victim’s phones and other household gadgets before setting the victim's rented room on fire.

The 28-year-old woman who was burnt by an unknown man in Msholozi will be buried on Saturday at the Brondal Farm, Magreeka section.
“The child lost everything in the fire. We are also living in fear because we don’t know who this man is and why he did it. We have so many questions to ask him, we would want to know why he raped the child after killing her mum,” said the victim’s sister who cannot be identified to protect the identity of the minor.

She adds that they lost the family’s pillar in the death of their sister who was always willing to help other family members in times of need.

Spokesperson to the department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Moeti Mmusi said the department paid a visit to the family to support the family and see how they can assist in the burial of the victim.
He said government programs from the department of social development will also come in to see how the child’s educational needs will be assisted.
“She will definitely be somehow assisted through various government institutions and programs,” he said.
He said that the MEC, Ms Gabisile Shabalala had called on the police to thoroughly investigate the case and that all those involved will be brought to book, prosecuted and given a lengthy jail sentence.
“We believe when that happens, the family will find closure and we will be sending out strong messages to other criminals of how the society has become intolerant of such levels of cruelty and heartlessness perpetuated against women and children,” he said.
