Deputy president urges community to take the jab

Deputy President David Mabuza has once again encouraged community members to boost and get vaccinated against Covid-19 as one of the main preventative measures against the pandemic.

MBOMBELA – He was monitoring the Covid-19 vaccination progress at the Mbombela taxi rank last Friday.

With only 29.6% of the population being fully vaccinated, Mabuza said government health services are always available and free for the community to be vaccinated and tested for other chronic illnesses.

“I want to encourage my people to make use of the health services as they take their time and come to you. We have health stalls where people can test for Covid-19, TB and even HIV/ Aids. My home people should not disappoint me. Make me proud and go in your numbers to be vaccinated.” According to Mabuza, vaccinating is a tool that can be used to boost the economy and help life to return to normal.

“When I was walking down the streets, many people called me saying that they need jobs. We can use the vaccine to boost our economy, tourism, mining and agriculture, and eventually create more job opportunities. Those of you who are still undecided about the jab, need to make the right decision to go and be vaccinated, as the time is no longer on our side. Children from the ages of 12 to 17 must be vaccinated, since they have returned to daily school attendance,” he said. Thabo Moloi, a community member, said he chose to be vaccinated because it was good for him and his loved ones. “I went to be vaccinated last year. We need life to return to the way it used to be. We want to go and fill the stadiums and watch various events, and if the vaccine can help us achieve this, then why not go for it?”
