Missing woman found dead outside White River

The woman was last seen in the early hours of Sunday May 29.

Yet another tragic death has occurred in Mganduzweni outside White River, following that of little Bontle Masiyane.

Family and community members can finally give up the search for a missing elderly woman, Lera Mbuyane. Her body was found in a bush on Friday June 24. She had been reported missing almost a month before.

Although the police have not confirmed the cause of death, the family suspects foul play.

Mbuyane’s daughter, Doliwe Ntibane, said they are distraught. “When we identified her in the bush, her body had bruises as if she had been beaten very badly, and it looks like it was burnt with acid,” said Ntibane.

She said her mother had last been seen by her partner, who was sleeping next to her at the time she disappeared.
“Her partner told us he had woken up around midnight on Sunday and noticed that she not in bed any longer, but we do not believe our mum could have disappeared just like that.

“Unfortunately, she is no longer here to tell us how she had disappeared and who the perpetrator could be. We have no words to explain this tragic death. We can only hope that the perpetrators will be found and given a hefty sentence,” Ntibane said.
