UPDATE: Mpumalanga toddler missing for 5 days
Police urge community members to remain calm as the search for missing toddler Nkosingiphile Ntiwane continues.
Five days after three-year-old Nkosingiphile Ntiwane from Mshadza Trust in Masoyi disappeared, Mpumalanga police have urged community members to remain calm and allow them to conduct their investigation.
This follows a violent protest along the R38 on Thursday, July 24, during which some community members went on a rampage.
“During the protest, participants demanded the arrest of the child’s mother and pelted stones at the Masoyi Police Station, damaging a police van,” said the provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane.
She said members of the Public Order Policing Unit were called in to defuse the situation.
Ndubane added that there were also threats to burn down the Ntiwane family’s home. As a result, the police have moved the family members to a place of safety.
