Education should not only be government oriented
Undoubtedly, YCA has produced some highly esteemed individuals, who are now using their skills in various industries, be it in the arts, education, finance, health or media.

I was just wondering, are you aware that according to the 2012 Education Insights and Action Summit, it was revealed that;
Out of a group of 100 Grade 1 pupils…
40 will reach Grade 12…
28 will pass matric…
4 will enter university…and only
1 will graduate.
Unfortunately, this is the reality we have stumbled upon, South Africa faces a severe crisis in the education system, and a solution to counter this scourge has never been so paramount.
On the bright side, programmes like the Young Communicator Ambassador (YCA), serves as an example of education empowerment to the present generation. For 20 years now, this invaluable initiative cultivates a real difference in the educational lives of young South Africans. It is aimed at grade 11 and 12 learners from all South African public high schools who do not speak English as a first language.
Undoubtedly, YCA has produced some highly esteemed individuals, who are now using their skills in various industries, be it in the arts, education, finance, health or media. Many of the previous participants have gone on to achieve great things, including television personality Bonginkosi “Zola” Dlamini and Asanda Magaqa, producer of SABC 3’s investigative show Special Assignment, and Rorisang Thandekiso of YO-TV.
During the 2013 provincial finals, Nolwazi Hlabanewas named Mpumalanga’s best orator and will be representing the Province at the National finals.
Some of the speeches that were delivered at the Provincial finals included:
· The 21st century…what a mess!
· The prevalence of self-defeating words amongst youth
· Women in the work place
· Society’s Puppets
As preparation for a career, YCA is certainly a springboard for learners, a way to foster self-confident young leaders who are able to express their vision for the future and have grown self-possessed enough to get their message across without any slip-ups. Subsequently, they become able communicators in possession of a skill that will stand them in good stead once they enter the business world.
Honestly, I could go on and on about how many young and talented individuals our country possesses, instead, I would rather have you hear it for yourself by interviewing your Province’s winner who will go up against other provincial winners and stand a chance to be remembered as the smooth young orator who gave a bravura speech that left the judges and the county holding their chins at the 2013 YCA finals.
