Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it shall eat its fruit”. Power comes in different forms. You have political, financial, economic, military, spiritual and physical power, however, today I want to introduce tongue power. This is stronger than all of those already listed. Words seem to be little things, easily spoken.
They pass out of mind and seem to pass out of being. But they are not little things, they are great things. South Africa, words capture and preserve our thoughts, they shape attitudes. We say prayers, praises through words, deals are concluded through them. Words heal and kill, they hurt and help. Wives and husbands are secured through words. One prophet wrote “take with you words and turn to the Lord”. Just as there are good and bad people, there are good and bad words.
They don’t die, they are alive and spiritual, (John 6:63) they hang in the atmosphere and wait for the moment of fruition. For so long we have thought death was with the gun and the bullet, sickness and disease, the witch and the wizard. How wrong we were! Life and death are in the tongue. With your tongue you can stop the bullet, neutralise witchcraft, reverse your death and postpone indefinitely your memorial service. You are the captain of your ship, pilot of your flight and prophet of your own destiny. Where you are, who you are and what you are as well as how you are, are a direct sum total of the words you have spoken. Words are like seeds of a pawpaw tree. So many of us have planted pawpaw trees unawares, when we ate the fruit and spat the seeds on the ground without even caring where the seeds dropped.
Words are creative. When God realised He was poor, He had no heaven and no earth, then He decided to say “let there be” and all that He wanted came into being. Refuse to speak negativity and failure in your life, no matter what.
If what you see is not what you want, don’t say what you see, say what you want, you will see what you said. Whatever you say you are, you are. If you say you are wise, you are, if you say you are sick you are, if you say you are strong you are. You are what you say you are. Build your mansion, buy your cars, and change your life through the tongue. Once you said a thing you prayed it.
