Right down the line: Countries secure their spot in top 16
None of Egypt, Senegal, Tunisia, Morocco and Nigeria has made it to the top 16. The question is, who will be the kings?
The Fifa World Cup has now come to a thrilling stage where countries are now playing to secure their spot in the top 16.
The Germans were knocked out of the group stages which was surprising. They won the 2014 World Cup and it looks like they failed to defend it. As for Brazil, they also disappointed many. A lot was expected of them as they are one of the best countries in football.
Key players such as Neymar and Marcelo did not put their best foot forward. What a disastrous campaign. Let us not even mention Panama, which was given a 6-1 lashing by the English who also made it to the top 16. Instead, countries such as Croatia, Russia, Uruguay, France, Mexico and Belgium are flourishing and prove to play better than other respected countries. Now I do believe they dubbed this year’s cup as the year of the underdogs. As for Africa, our journey has come to an end.
