Right down the line: New year and renewed hope under-performing teams
On Mpumalanga News' Thursday edition there is an error stating that Kaizer Chief's house is not in order and drama concerning Benson Mhlongo and Sammy Troughton which is incorrect. We take accountability for the error made.
Compliments to the new year and may we all have a prosperous year and hopefully all our wishes come true. Back to the business of football and other things, let us pick up from where we left off. Nothing has changed all leagues are still continuing.
We just hope that everyone is still in one piece from the festive season. Unfortunately, not all teams entered into the new year with winning ways. I do not mean to start off on a distasteful note but that is the reality of the situation for some teams. For instance, Kaizer Chiefs is not cutting it. I thought the new coach will bring a new wave to the team but nothing of that nature. They are in position eight and might find themselves sinking even further. Meanwhile, locally things seem to be in order for Mbombela United as they have secured position two in the National First Division log. They recently lashed TS Sporting at Kabokweni Stadium last weekend. Abantu bemthetho last year were in position three at some point but they have now found themselves at the bottom of ladder in position eight.
Maybe it could be that their house is not in order. There is drama concerning Benson Mhlongo and Sammy Troughton that have costed them to lose focus on the task at hand. There were many changes in a short space of time and look where that got the team – not even in the top five. They must get their act together or they will find themselves out of the league and back to SAB. On that note, some SAB teams are doing on the field like Mkhuhlu FC who have shown a strong capability to compete with bigger teams. They are definitely in it to win it! We have taken note that Acornbush United is leading the ABC Mostepe league. I understand that coach’s focus was to build the team specifically for this season. But the results are showing progress and he also mentioned last year that his focus is not to be promoted but if the team does, they should take it as blessing.
