Sixties weekend party returns
Province to come alive as annual festival hits our shores.
A festival of urban and soulful sounds is set to bring a dynamic vibe to Nelspruit yet again this year.
The province will come alive this September as the fifth instalment of the Mpumalanga Comes Alive (Mpuca) Annual ’60s Weekend Party returns with a scintillating weekend of good music, tourism and entertainment.
For the past four years this event played host to a unique melting pot of different cultures, coming together for a massive celebration. Boasting some of the majestic and panoramic views, Mpumalanga will come alive from September 26 to 29 when revelers and tourists from all over gather at some of the city’s iconic locations, such as Mbombela Stadium, the showground and Cappello.
“We are quite thrilled with the success which the festival has enjoyed over the past four years and this year it’s going to be even better as we feature the South African Music Awards winner Khuli Chana and the kwaito legend, Zola to head our strong lineup of more than 40 artists,” said Sam Sekgota.
The Mpuca ’60s Weekend will kick-off on Friday September 27 with a high energy hip-hop pre-party at Cappello featuring Naives and Sphe, Voodoo, Mpako, Ocean, Major League and many more.
For the lovers of house music, we have secured the Lowveld Showground terrain with DJs Ralf Gum, China, Da Vinci, Fistaz Mixwell, TrevorDee, Kleinkie, The Prince, Nasty Nev and TrendyL as well as some of the top club DJs in the country. Saturday, September 28, will be the main party at the Mbombela Stadium precinct.
The weekend winds down the next day at The Mbombela Picnic and Braai Area with sultry and soulful sounds with the popular Sunday Soul Session presented by the Metro FM’s Paul Mtirara, Eddie Zondi, Sweetmike and Unkle Mdu. Also billed to perform here is top Afro Jazz artists Mafikizolo, The Soil, JazielBrothers and Zahara to be flanked by local artists Tsepe, NuError and many more,” Sekgota went on.
“It’s sure going to be an unforgettable Mpumalanga weekend and we urge all South Africans to set aside that September weekend and book their tickets, flights and accommodation as this is going to be a memorable festival of excellent music,” he added.
Tickets are already available at Compu-ticket outlets nationwide and online.
