Lufuno Dagada is an enigmatic artist on the rise, taking the gospel
world by storm, one album at a time. Known for his creativity and
composing-skills, mixing traditional gospel songs into master pieces to suit
various occasions and times, Lufuno has done it again with his latest album
release, “My Practical God”.
Dagada has been on the gospel
scene for more than 10 years, his maturity and experience has enriched him as an
artist and he is now ready to conquer the gospel music world. The 39-year-old
gospel artist, who has a vast and loyal fan-base in Limpopo, says he is grateful
to his single mother who raised him with love and taught him the importance of
standing on
one’s own two feet.
His latest album, My Practical
God, was recorded live at the SA State Theatre in Pretoria in
March 2013. The album consists of 13 inspiring tracks which have taken
“Mudifho”, as Lufuno is affectionately known, to the next level of his
career. With his latest offering, Lufuno has taken a new route
of diversifying his music to accommodate official languages
most spoken and
cultures practiced in South Africa.
Lufuno has proven
himself to be a gospel heavyweight to be reckoned with, his winnings include a
Crown Gospel Music Awards and also a Tshima Music Award. Some of the songs not
to be missed on his third album include “Va Ta Ma Vona”, a Tsonga song which
loosely translates: “We shall one day see and experience the power of God when
He comes back”
“It’s my father who nurtured my love for music after I
graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and took me under his wing. It was meant to be
this way because through our relationship we co-founded the Christ Worship House
in 2003, with him as a pastor and myself as a musical director,” says
Dagada.
Other great tracks to listen to include “Sefapanong
ke Boha”, “U Netulusa Muya Wanga” and “Sekubonile Baba”. My
Practical God is a must-have album especially for true worshippers
