It’s wafa wafa in the final showdown of the Nkomazi Champ of Champs.
Having already qualified for the final clash, the KaMhlushwa-based Real Madrid FC will have to wait until Saturday to find out which team they face on Sunday.
Real Madrid FC which gained passage to the final after beating Driekoppies Barcelona 2-0 last Sunday, will wait for the outcome in the other semi-finals between the 2013 Selati Cup champions, Mlambo Royal Cubs and Mthatha Peacemakers.
These two semi-finalists had previously played to a two-all draw and as per the competition’s rules that if there was no winner after 90 minutes, the game should be postponed to a later date as was the case with this fixture.
“We are expecting nothing but fireworks, because the teams that are going to the final are competitive and have a huge following.
“So, we expect to have an exiting one,” said Zweli Sibanyoni, one of the founder members and sponsors of the tournament.
Sibanyoni said even though he wasn’t 100 per cent happy with the turnout of supporters, he was happy that the tournament was reaping the benefits of its establishment.
“We wanted to promote the game among our football clubs and to promote the spirit of good sportsmanship among the competing clubs and their spectators.
“We wanted to create a platform where our people would go and socialise while at the same time help reduce crime statistics in Nkomazi through sport.
“We feel we have achieved that,” he went on.
The competition is sponsored by Egumeni Investment Holdings and according to Sibanyoni, this tournament will be annual event.
“But, in order to make this a success, we need the support of everyone, our communities, our government and the private sector,” he pointed out.
The champions will walk away with R80 000 with the runners-up pocketing R40 000. Third will take home R20 000 and R10 000 for the team in fourth.
The final is scheduled to take place at the Driekoppies Stadium on Sunday at 15:00.
