Karateka bags more medals

Mpumalanga’s very own karateka, Conwell Mkhonto who serves as an assistant instructor, and has a first degree black belt in wadokai karate, has once again done the province proud.
This comes after he participated in the provincial championships in Pretoria during the past weekend, where he scooped two gold medals.
He also took home a bronze medal in kumite (fighting) and another gold medal in TAG team fighting where the SAPS competed against correctional services karatekas.
In his previous interview with Mpumalanga News, Mkhonto vowed to bring at least a gold medal home but went on to pocket more than that.
Mkhonto is a senior student of Master Job Magagula, a fourth degree black-belt holder of Taekwando International and wadokai chief instructor in South Africa of the Nelspruit Wadokai and Taekwando Club.
Speaking to this publication after the victory, Magagula said, “We would like to say a job well done, we are so proud of Mkhonto and we wish him all the best next year in the wadokai competition.
It shows that we are moving forward in terms of taking this sport to another level.”
