Aces hungry for victory

"We are not intimidated, actually we are more confident than ever before."

Top of the Premier Soccer League table, Mpumalanga Black Aces will travel to Johannesburg to yet another tough engagement with Orlando Pirates on Wednesday, September 16.

Coming from an impressive victory against Mamelodi Sundowns, Aces will be out to continue their onslaught.

According to Aces’ spokesperson, Gordon Masondo, the victory against one of the Premier Soccer League’s giants, Sundowns has given the boys an extra boost and they are now even more hungry for good results.

“There is no doubt that our spirits are high now and we hope and believe that we will continue to display the kind of football we are currently playing.

“Well, it’s going to be tough playing away against Pirates as they are also currently on top of their game, but we are going there to fight and give our all.

We are not intimidated, actually we are more confident than ever before,” said Masondo.

Aces coach, Muhsin Ertugral was also pleased to see his tactical approach starting to take form.

AmaZayoni produced a balanced display that combined defensive discipline with exciting, counter-attacking football against Sundowns.

The quality brought to the side by the likes of Lebohang Manyama, Mpho Matsi, Limbikani Mzava and goalkeeper Shu-Aib Walters has been evident during this season’s opening games, which have already yielded crucial seven points.

And Ertugral, who is renowned for successfully blending experience with youth, said it remained his long-term goal to combine such quality with the strategic understanding that could take Aces to the next level.

“Obviously we don’t want to put pressure on the boys. It’s a building process, there are a lot of young players also coming through.

We are not overwhelmed, it is a fantastic situation at the moment for us and we are looking forward to the next step,” said Ertugral.
