Aces face Celtic in Telkom Cup
Mpumalanga Black Aces' character will be tested when they travel to the Free State where they have a tough date with Bloemfontein Celtic.
These two teams are meeting up on Sunday at the Free State Stadium in the opening rounds of the Telkom Knockout Cup.
The 2015/16 Telkom Knockout kicked off last night with the rest of the first round of matches to be played this weekend.
This edition of this premier cup competition will see Telkom reigniting the true passion of fans by creating unforgettable match-day experiences throughout.
Marking 10 years of creating unforgettable football memories for fans, the Telkom Knockout continues to be a true mirror of how much passion South African fans have for football. Speaking at the launch Telkom’s sponsorship senior specialist Braam Wessels urged fans to dig deep and unleash their passion.
“Telkom prides itself in connecting people across all communication platforms.
Through the Telkom Knockout, we have successfully connected fans to their passion for football. Not only will this year’s competition connect fans to football but, through various activities, they will enjoy unlimited celebrations at all matches of the tourney,” said Wessels.
PSL CEO Brand de Villiers said, “In line with this year’s theme of the Telkom Knockout of igniting rivalry among supporters of different clubs, we are hoping to see fans come in numbers to support their clubs.
“Together with our sponsors, Telkom, we would like to make this edition special for the supporters and thank them for their contribution to football.
In our country, it remains the best vehicle for the corporate world to spread the message and, we would like to thank Telkom for showing faith in investing in domestic football.
“Last year the PSL generated about two billion rand’s worth of coverage, and from that the company enjoyed a very good share. We wish all the 16 clubs good luck.”
Other interesting Telkom Knockout fixtures include Mamelodi Sundowns which will host Chippa United on Saturday at Lucas Moripe Stadium, Kaizer Chiefs which will travel to the city of Platinum in the North West to face Platinum Stars on Sunday at Moruleng Stadium.
Orlando Pirates will entertain University of Pretoria on October 16 at Orlando Stadium.
