Runners make league a reality

Approximately 100 people participated in the Barberton Community Radio station’s fun run on Saturday.
The initiative was part of the fund-raising efforts for the launch of the Barberton netball league.
In an interview with Mpumalanga News, the programme manager, Mawethu Ngwenya said,
“We are pleased with the turnout, it shows that we are moving in a positive direction. This is going to be an annual event.
“Our aim is to keep young people busy so that they will not indulge in substance abuse. The launch of the netball league will help with this and also play a crucial role in reducing teenage pregnancy.”
Ngwenya added that before the end of the month, they will form a committee that will be responsible to ensure the netball league runs smoothly.
