5 simple tips to ace Idols audition

So, you’ve been waiting for this moment for weeks on end and want to ace your Audition and bag that Golden Ticket!? Here’s how.

Do you want to be the next South African Idol?

Here is a quick 5-step guide to securing that Golden Ticket.

Be prepared

This may seem obvious but you’ve got to make sure you know what’s expected of you. Double check you have the correct information about the date, time and venue and bring your ID or proof of identification. It’s always best to bring a bottle of water to keep hydrated, as well as food. You never know how long the wait will be before you’re called in.

Choose the right song

There’s often a temptation to show off by choosing a song beyond your singing capability. Don’t! It’s always best to choose a song that’s well within your range, one that won’t leave you choking or out of breath.

Practice makes perfect

Practice, practice, practice your song! There’s nothing worse than forgetting your lyrics! If you do forget, just keep going. Don’t let your face or body language give it away.

Confidence is key

First impressions last, so it’s always best to keep good posture. Walk and talk with confidence, even if you’re terrified!

Dress the part

Wear something comfortable. Leave the costumes/ character outfits at home, please! Rather go for a comfy pair of shoes and outfit, something not too tight.

Auditions can be a little nerve-wracking sometimes, but remember, you’ve worked hard and are well prepared, now go out there and show the Judges and the rest of the country what you’re made of!

IdolsSA Auditions will take place in Durban on the 20th January, Cape Town on the 27th January, Pretoria on the 10th February, and Johannesburg on the 24th February.

The Telkom Pop-up Auditions will take place in Bloemfontein on the 3rd  February, Port Elizabeth on the 17th February and Polokwane on the 3rd March. Stay connected and up to date by following Idols SA on FacebookTwitter and Instagram
