Through the grapevine

Are local event organisers ever going to outgrow their silly habits? Artists are undermined and taken for a ride in this province.

It really does not make sense to book a local artist to perform at your event and in return offer food and refreshments as a payment.

We’re aware of a certain businessman we wish to not name, who thinks locals performing for free at his joint will give them exposure. How ridiculous! We wonder if artists from Jozi and other provinces are given the same crappy treatment the locals get. It is not fair- they do not deserve
such. Do they even know karma? Let’s just say it has a way of finding your address.

It’s also about time artists up their game. If you want to be taken seriously, DO YOU! How many times should we watch you imitate others?
Nothing beats originality. We ain’t talking about you Reshen. By the way, nice performance on Sunday at Blue Note. Should we expect an album this year? Yes, no, maybe? We’re also getting tired of these duplicated events monthly.Isn’t there anything better to think of hosting? What happened to originality? Let us not even talk about the recycling of MCs. Give people value for their money for a change.

In other news, Ligwalagwala FM is looking for presenters and we’re curious to know if there will be a new line-up soon. We could do with a bit of fresh shows and some young blood. We wish all applicants the best and we’re crossing our fingers for the right people to be chosen and present shows that are relevant to them on their slots. Not that we’re insinuating anything, it’s just a thought.

Have a great weekend and remember this: It’s called karma and it’s pronounced HA-HA-HA HA!
