LISTEN: Good and bad draws for Bafana Bafana

Listen to the latest Ballz to the Wall Podcast!

Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana picked up a confidence-boosting 1-1 draw with the Ivory Coast on Tuesday in Abidjan, the passion and fight contrasting with their insipid goalless draw with Swaziland on Friday, even if the result was the same.

There are good draws and bad draws in the world of football, and Abidjan was definitely on the good side, as was another sort of draw, the one Bafana got for the Africa Cup of Nations finals, which will be held in the Ivory Coast early next year

In this week’s Ballz to the Wall podcast, Phakaaathi editor Jonty Mark, along with football writer Sibongsieni Gumbi, discusses an up-and-down week of international football for Bafana Bafana.

Sundowns’ latest quest

We also look at Mamelodi Sundowns’ participation in the Confederation of African Football’s new club competition, the African Football League, and wonder just what impact playing in that competition will have on the rest of Masandawana’s campaign.

Will Sundowns suffer in their bid to win another DStv Premiership title, and to go far in the Caf Champions League? Or could the African Football League indirectly help Bafana Bafana going forward?
