VIDEO: Randfontein pupil viciously attacked by fellow pupils
Cellphone footage has emerged showing a fierce fight between two grade 7 learners at Laerskool Randfontein (Ram) school, on the West Rand.
In the video, one pupil is being targeted before being physically and verbally attacked by a group of fellow learners, Randfontein Herald reported.
The pupil who recorded the video repeatedly told the rest of the learners not to assist him in the fight.
Once the victim was on the ground, the pupils began to laugh mockingly at him.
The school’s principal, Leon Haupt issued a statement on the school’s Facebook confirming the incident. He said all the pupils involved in the fight have been identified and disciplinary action will be taken against them.

“Dear parents, we regret the unsavoury incident between grade 7 pupils at the school. The incident was filmed and circulated in the media. Everyone involved was identified and disciplinary hearings are scheduled for next week,” the statement read.
“Be sure that each child’s safety is our first priority and that the necessary steps will be taken against the culprits,” said Haupt.
This after two pupils in separate incidents were assaulted by teachers in Randfontein Secondary School, on the West Rand early this month.
On the recent incident, cellphone footage obtained by Eye Witness News shows a teacher hitting a grade 9 pupil with a belt in front of his classmates.
It is alleged the pupil was hit for not completing his schoolwork.
During the interview with EWN, Gauteng Department of Education spokesperson Phumla Sekhonyane said: “It’s just completely unbelievable that you have educators who continue to administer corporal punishment”.
In the last incident, video footage emerged showing a man believed to be a teacher assaulting a grade 9 learner in full view of other pupils.
“This happens on a regular basis. It is a daily occurrence. It is the way they deal with pupils that sometimes don’t agree with certain teachers,” the pupil said.
