Clover relocates cheese production to Queensburgh
The move follows ongoing poor service delivery at the Lichtenburg factory.
Dairy group, Clover reported in a statement yesterday that its moving its biggest cheese production plant from Lichtenburg in the North West to Queensburgh.
According to the statement, the relocation is due to ongoing poor service delivery.
Clover stated that for years, the Lichtenburg factory in North West has been experiencing water and power outages and the surrounding infrastructure has not been maintained by the municipality.
“Despite numerous efforts to engage the municipality on these matters, the issues have not been resolved. This has negatively impacted production which requires a continuous process and it is no longer feasible for the business to operate in Lichtenburg,” said Clover.
Clover already has operations in Queensburgh and according to the statement, the eThekwini Municipality has proven to be supportive.
