Randburg to be revitalised

The Gautrain coming to Randburg is one of the projects the RIC is communicating with government about.

Ward councillors have pledged their support for the latest initiative aiming to improve the Randburg CBD.

During an online, open meeting which the Randburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) hosted on Zoom recently, Ward 102 councillor David Potter and Ward 104 councillor Mike Wood approved of a new organisation, Randburg Improvement Central (RIC).

It replaces the old Randburg Management District and has been working with local government on brave new projects in the area.

“We have added input in the integrated development plan and are about to get office space as we hire new staff and organise events for the area,” said Mary Gillett-de Klerk, stakeholder relations manager for the organisation’s Randburg Revitalisation Project.

She said the Gautrain was coming to Randburg and the organisation was working closely with government about logistics.

The RIC was formed in late 2019 and is a member of the RCCI, Joburg Business Forum and Joburg City Improvement District Forum.

Businesses were told they could expect exciting things from this endeavour and were encouraged to work alongside it.

During the Zoom meeting, Potter and Wood pledged their support for the initiative and encouraged businesses to partner with it.
