Police to boost visibility through blue light patrols
Communities can expect to see more police vehicles patrolling their suburbs with blue lights after dark.
This as the South African Police Service (Saps) launched its Country in Blue operational concept under the theme ‘Extending our reach through blue light visibility’ on Saturday (October 2) in Inanda, KwaZulu-Natal.
The campaign will see all operational Saps vehicles being driven with the emergency warning blue lights switched on to enhance and heighten police visibility from sunset to sunrise (18:00 to 06:00).
This concept aims to prevent and combat a host of crimes, including gender-based violence, aggravated robberies such as carjacking, business and residential robberies commonly known as trio crimes, as well as tracing of wanted suspects and the proliferation of firearms.
#sapsEC #CountryInBlue operations resulted in the arrest of drug peddlers, Disaster Management Act offenders and various other crimes. 48 wanted suspects were arrested within 12 hours period. #VisiblePolicing SW
