Child (2) raped and murdered in Limpopo: Police hunt for suspects

The mother contacted the police immediately after realising that her child was missing.

The body of a two-year-old child was found on Thursday, a day after she was reported missing, in Nwamita in Letsitele near Tzaneen.

The child went missing while her mother was visiting her boyfriend. At around 12:00 the mother went to the neighbour to borrow a wheelbarrow to fetch water from a nearby river, and left her child behind at the house.

When she returned and could not find her child, she immediately called the police and a search operation was launched.

The child’s body was only discovered in the bush the following day. She was raped and murdered.

Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has expressed shock and disgust at this senseless incident and urged members of the community to assist the police with information so that justice can prevail.

The Police have opened cases of rape and murder and anyone with information that can assist in the apprehension of the suspects can contact the investigating officer Sergeant Isaac Raseala on 076 618 0899, the crime stop number 08600 10 111, the nearest police station or via the MySAPS App.
