Popular DJ shot dead in Johannesburg

Oupa Sefoka, famously known as DJ Sumbody, is among two people who were shot and killed in the early hours of this morning.

The flamboyant DJ Sumbody (real name Oupa Sefoka) was gunned down in Johannesburg earlier today.

A hail of bullets was fired towards the driver’s side of the Monate Mpolaye and Ayep yep hit maker’s vehicle.

According to reports, it is alleged that Dj Sumbody’s bodyguard was also shot during the incident, while it is said that a third person, who drove in a different vehicle, sustained gunshot wounds.

The passing of the music producer was confirmed in a statement issued by family spokesperson Mmanake Mokiti.

“Artist and musician DJ Sumbody has died. Details of his untimely death cannot be released but the artist named Oupa John Sefoka allegedly ran into an unfortunate incident that led to his passing in the early hours of Sunday morning,” said the spokesperson.

Mokiti added that the Sefoka family and Sumsounds Music management requests privacy during this difficult time and added that another statement will be released in due time.

The media fraternity and Mzansi is left reeling in shock as social media is filled with images of what is supposedly Sumbody’s car.

Social media is abuzz with fellow artists and fans issuing messages of condolences.
