Sassa grants: No glitches expected, but insufficient cash at KZN post offices

The October payment cycle of the South African Social Security Agency's grants started yesterday, with mostly smooth sailing.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has urged grant beneficiaries in KZN to collect their money at ATMs and retail stores such as Boxer, Pick n Pay, SPAR, Shoprite and Usave.

Sassa directed this message to those who starting getting their money yesterday.

In a statement issued by the agency, it is said this is due to many post office branches in the province reporting that they anticipate insufficient cash in store as a result of cash delivery delays.

Smooth sailing expected

Despite the possibility of cash flow constraints in KZN, SA News.gov reported that the agency’s branch in Mpumalanga issued a statement to assure beneficiaries of a smooth transaction during the October payment cycle.

“This comes after the technical glitches experienced last month, affecting grant recipients across the country.

“According to Sassa, the elderly will receive their money on October 3, those living with disabilities on October 4, while payment of children grants categories will get theirs from October 5,” their article states.
