Goat-carrying police van raises eyebrows in Mpumalanga

Residents complained that they are told police vehicles are not available when they report matters in eMbalenhle.

A bakkie from the eMbalenhle Police Station carrying a goat in the loading bin, was spotted at the Bethal Mall in Mpumalanga yesterday afternoon.

The sight infuriated eyewitnesses.

Earlier this month community members shared their concerns with the Mpumalanga Safety, Security and Liaison MEC, Vusi Shongwe, and the police deputy minister, Cassel Mathale, over the shortage of police vehicles to attend to complaints in eMbalenhle.

Residents claimed that when they go to the station to report cases, they are told that no vehicle is available to attend to their complaints.

Colonel Donald Mdhluli, Mpumalanga police spokesman, promised to respond on the matter at a later stage.
