No bail for first accused in Phala Phala break-in
One of the three people alleged to be involved in the theft of millions of rands from the president’s game farm has not been granted bail.
Imanuawel David, who faces three charges of break-in and theft, and one charge of money laundering, has been denied bail.
He appeared in the Bela-Bela Magistrate’s court today for judgment to be made on his bail application for the charges against him in the case relating to the theft of around US$580 000 (around R10m) stolen from President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm.
Presiding officer Predeshni Ponnan said the bail application was denied in the interests of justice.
The Joseph siblings, Froliana and David, received bail on November 10, but will be in court as the case continues.
The matter was postponed until February 24, for further investigation.
Imanuawel will remain in custody.
