Huge cocaine haul among coal at Port of Richards Bay

Millions of rands worth of cocaine was recovered on a vessel from Columbia.

Cocaine bricks worth an estimated R15m were recovered on a vessel at the Port of Richards Bay.

Members of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation boarded the Genco Columbia, which was carrying coal.

The vessel reportedly arrived in the port at around 23:00 on Friday, after leaving Barranquilla in Columbia on March 26.

The ship was due to sail this Thursday after discharging coal.
